Introduction

This course is for the entry controller/top person who controls entry arrangements and operation for medium risk confined space environments.  

This course is taught at our City & Guilds accredited purpose built confined space simulated environments, in Swansea & Cardiff. This includes indoor tunnel and covers; safe entry, emergency procedures and escapes using breathing apparatus.

This course will provide delegates with basic skills and knowledge to safely enter a confined space, to recognise different atmospheric changes, understand risk assessment and safe systems of work. You will be trained in the use of gas monitors and escape sets and the use of the equipment relevant to working in a confined area.

The aim of this unit is to reflect the national occupational standard for controlling entry and arrangements for operating in a medium risk confined space environment. This unit covers both water and non-water industry areas.

Course Pre-Requisites

Delegates attending this course should be 16+ years and must physically and mentally fit to withstand the rigorous practical training, confirmed by our fitness statement. The recommended weight limit for this course is 20 stone and you must be able to enter, operate and exit tight spaced environments.

Candidates must be able to understand and speak the English Language.

Course Benefits

The course will provide a detailed understanding of safety requirements when assessing, planning and carrying out work in confined space environments. The course also provides assessment of entrant and entry controller responsibilities when working within confined spaces, keeping individuals and those around them safe. On completion you will achieve Level 2 qualification for entry controller/top person who controls entry arrangements for medium risk confined spaces and works within them.

Assessment Method

Written theory assessment and practical confined space entry and operation assessment.
