Skills in the Work place is a government funded training initiative that supports training in the South West Wales regions of Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, and Swansea.
The project supports individuals with funding for up to 50% funding for their training costs.
It's aim is to upskill individuals with short courses to in turn better themselves in sectors of Construction, Energy and Net Carbon, Advanced/Smart Manufacturing and Engineering, Digital and ICT, and Health and Social Care.
Course participation rules include:
- Learners must reside or work within a SA postcode or Swansea Bay City Deal region.
- There is no age restrictions
- Individuals can apply whether seeking employment or within employment
- Unlike other funding schemes (such as PLA funding) there is no wage cap in order to apply.
- Only one course at a time, whereby delegates can attend extra courses on completion of the existing course.
- While heavily subsidized, a small fee contribution is typically required for employed individuals or participating employers.
- Strict rules apply to withdrawals; funding must be repaid unless mitigating circumstances are approved, and a second withdrawal forfeits future access to the initiative.

**It is important to note, as with all funding, it is purely based upon approval of the funding provider. Funded courses are available based on the lifespan of the project and on course availability.
